About site

Empathic Universe is a place of rest — for the mind, the soul, and the body. If you have arrived here, it means this is the place where it feels good to pause, catch your breath, and find a community of women who will support and sustain you in your search for balance in your life.

It is a process that requires patience and attention, the removal of judgments directed toward yourself or others, and the discovery of an empathetic language.

I, Octavia Udrescu am an internationally certified NVC coach trainer, a mother, a wife and so on. I wear many hats that you may recognize as well. My transformation process began in 2018, when I attended a nonviolent communication course that changed my intention in life, inspiring me to create a free space for expression where I can welcome women who want a life centered on compassion and on understanding their own needs and the needs of others. It may sound idyllic — and maybe it truly is.

But, why not?

Since 2020 at Atelierele CNV, I have shared online and offline courses and workshops for adults and teenagers on topics such as self‑care, empathy, and conflict.

After that, in order to become certified, I participated in numerous trainings in Romania and abroad and worked to integrate the concepts and principles into my own life.

If my words resonate with you, I’m here.

Universe of needs- card deck

In my journey toward becoming a trainer in Nonviolent Communication, I felt a deep need to truly understand and integrate human needs. Designing this card deck became part of that learning process—an exploration that brought together curiosity, creativity, and a sense of play.

As I studied human needs, I found myself drawn to the ways nature mirrors our inner world. The flowers, plants, and insects illustrated in this deck reflect my personal interpretation of these connections. Each card represents a moment of discovery, where I searched for parallels between the needs we all share and the wisdom found in the natural world.

My hope is that these cards inspire you to observe and protect nature—our precious home—and that the accompanying booklet supports you on your own journey of self‑discovery.

Mr. Rosenberg and the coffee cup

I met Gundi in 2022, at my first International Intensive Training in Nonviolent Communication (IIT), in Slovenia. The title of her book, Mr. Rosenberg and the Cup of Coffee, immediately caught my attention, and I felt an impulse to read it.

During the nine days of training I only managed to go through a few fragments, but once I returned home, I finally began reading it properly. It captivated me from the very first pages through the honesty of her words and stories, and many times I found myself moved to tears. When I finished the book, I felt a strong desire to share Gundi’s stories with those who do not speak English and are not yet familiar with Nonviolent Communication.

As I continued reading the book, it became increasingly clear to me that Gundi’s stories are more than personal anecdotes—they are gentle invitations into vulnerability, courage, and inner transformation. They touched me through their simplicity, their subtle humor, and the way they capture the essence of Nonviolent Communication in everyday life. Many times, I found myself moved to tears.

While reading, I realized how valuable these stories could be for people who do not speak English or who are just beginning to explore NVC. I felt a strong desire to make this book accessible in Romanian, so that Gundi’s warmth, honesty, and wisdom could reach a wider community. Translating her work became, for me, an act of gratitude and a way of contributing to the spread of NVC in a form that is heartfelt, relatable, and deeply human.
